You are right,

Nice to write, but how will be the “Medium” business model? I was also making a quick search to find it, without any result :(

For sure, we will not receive any money back from what we are sharing, must use a shared monetized MooC or your own (paid) blog/web platform for this, as usual.

Mostly, any “free” web publishing platform, will monetize content one way or another… So it is always some surprise when creating a web or blog, for free, and in final, horrible advertisement popup when web traffic is coming…

So the only option is to read the Terms Of Service,

Also history there https://github.com/Medium/medium-policy

They are pretty much readable, thanks for that. They will not sell our content, but allow us to add any advertise, where the “clic” can pay them. By the way, you pay, or you popup, that’s the game with any like Wordpress.com. We are also allowed to duplicate content, not exclusive…

But nothing about monetization…

Update 2021 for Siael Alves

So now the business model is clear: Pay to read the article proposed for only “paying readers” (Paywall), those with green circle. So, the authors can get money back, according to the clap and the reading their paid articles. We do not have to pay as a writer, only readers choose to subscribe for access paid articles. Of course, you get money when you got a lot of readers, so a lot of success… (I got 86 cents…)
